oh lately it's so quiet

Barbara had been the one to suggest this whole endeavor, but they'd never actually discussed details. Carmilla was fairly certain that the redhead hadn't actually expected Carmilla to show up. It had seemed like more of a hint, a hope that Carmilla would take her up on the offer. Luckily for Barbara, Carmilla was currently looking at a lot of free time and disposable income. A trip to Gotham hadn't been out of the question at all.

So it took Carmilla all of two days to pack and plan out the trip. She'd booked her flights and found a decent hotel easily enough. It wasn't one of the more decadent hotels, but it wasn't stingy either. The dorms that they stayed in at Silas were as shabby as Carmilla would typically bring herself to stand, and that wasn't by her own choice. So when she was given the opportunity, now certainly wasn't the time to skimp on accommodations.

After she'd checked in and unpacked, she ventured out into the city. It was her first time in Gotham, though she'd heard plenty of stories. She knew there were a fair few of her kind within the city limits, but she hoped to avoid them. She had other plans, in any case. She wandered down the streets, trying to familiarize herself with the area surrounding her hotel, when she finally pulled out her phone to shoot Barbara a message.

So, where can a girl get a good cup of coffee in Gotham, cupcake?

i can hardly make you mine

Carmilla wasn't sure exactly when the shift had happened. If she was being honest with herself--which she tried to avoid quite frankly--she knew there was a part of her that had been attracted to Laura immediately. The little tank tops she wore and her long golden hair, the way her brows furrowed and wrinkled when she was working to hard... It was all irritatingly attractive to her and she couldn't even explain why. Not that any of that got her to bite her tongue when a smart-ass comment entered her head. If anything, it just egged her on. Anything to get a rise out of her petite roommate. She probably got a little too much enjoyment out of it, but it wasn't like any of it mattered anyway. Laura clearly had a crush on her beanpole of a TA, and it was sickening.

At least, that's what she had thought. Before Laura had started throwing her almost as many glances as Carmilla herself was hiding. Sometimes she'd catch the tail end of one and a blush would rise to Laura's cheeks. It was almost as exciting as watching her bunch up her face in anger. And when Laura sidled up to her one night to ask her on what could almost be considered a date, well. What's a vampire to do?

Bring champagne, that's what.

Frankly, this was probably as good a shot as Carmilla was ever going to get, and she wasn't going to waste it on a bunch of zeta creeps. If Laura really wanted fire, she was pretty sure she could still find some for her. But if she had any say in things, they wouldn't need to go anywhere. Why go to the party when she could bring the party to Laura?

She swept into the room she shared with Laura, wearing a corset that she knew looked stunning on her and a smirk on her red lips. She had two glasses in her hand and a bottle of the best champagne she could scrounge up on such short notice. "My, don't you look like a virgin sacrifice," she drawled, moving to the edge of her bed, near Laura. If Laura was trying to play it sweet and demure, maybe she shouldn't have put the entirety of her neck and shoulders on display. But, then again, maybe she had done that on purpose. A girl could dream.
